Here you can get some answers to some of the questions you may have when considering what kind of therapy you're looking for.
What is the most important thing to consider when beginning therapy?
Therapy is a relational process. It is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist and feel like you can build a relationship with him/her. Connecting with the therapist will allow you to be open and share freely. It is important to me that you feel comfortable beginning therapy with me. I offer a free 15-minute virtual session where you can ask questions and get a feel for who I am.
How many sessions should I do?
The number of sessions greatly depends on what you are working on. In my therapy work, we work on setting collaborative goals so that we have a direction of what we are doing. It is important to remember that therapy is a process and not something that can be predicted. Sometimes a client may start working on a particular goal that may lead to other important topics.
It is my goal that my clients feel understood and that the sessions are valuable to them.
How do I get started?
Once you determine that you would like to get started, you will be asked to provide your name and email address. Paperwork will be sent to your email, and you will fill it out electronically. You will also be asked to provide a couple of dates and times that work for your schedule so an appointment can be made.
How can therapy help me?
Benefits of therapy depend on your commitment and level of readiness. Some benefits can include boosting self-confidence or improving self-esteem, improving communication skills, learning/finding new coping skills, attaining a better understanding of yourself, changing old patterns and developing new ones, or managing your emotional feelings, such as sadness, anger or other highly charged emotions you may be feeling.
